GALATA TOWER
Galata is a small, lovely neighborhood that has hosted a vibrant Jewish community for over 1,000 years. This quarter of Istanbul has a peaceful vibe to it that makes you feel like you are in another world.
One of the most important landmarks of this quarter is the Galata Tower, that you can enjoy the mesmerizing panoramic view of the city.
In Ottoman times, there was an adventurer called Hezarfen Ahmed Celebi, who created wings inspired from bird wings and tried to fly. His departure point was the top of Galata Tower. Good news: He succeeded to pass the Bosphorus and land to Uskudar.
The tower hosts great light shows at night, too.
